Honda Announces 2013 Model Year Bikes

As we all try to cram a few more glorious weekends into the riding season before it starts its slow descent into winter, manufacturers are still trickling out new models for the 2013 model year. Last week, Honda made its announcement of additional 2013 bikes, but there's no real reason to get up out of the easy chair just yet -- it's largely a list of favorites that are returning by "popular demand."

“With this most recent release of multiple models, we see the core and model representation that keeps thousands of loyal Honda enthusiasts returning year after year,” is how Powersports Press Manager Bill Savino puts it.

That means you'll see returning models like the long-running Rebel 250, a favorite among new riders for more than a quarter-century, as well as the Shadow 750 series, which includes four different variations for 2013 —the Aero, Phantom, RS and Spirit. Large-displacement V-twins will include the Sabre, Stateline, Interstate and the somehow-still-radical Fury. Last, but certainly not least, is the 2013 Gold Wing, an icon of two-up long-distance luxury travel. According to Honda, U.S. sales are close to 550,000 units since its introduction in 1975.

- Fury/Fury ABS
It's still sometimes hard to believe that the Fury is a full-release production model from a large manufacturer. It still has those extreme lines, the open, airy frame that puts the engine front and center, as well as those viciously head-turning looks, all backed by the finish, functionality, affordability and reliability you expect from a Honda. There are new Red and Black colors for 2013 (ABS in Black only).
MSRP: $13,390 - $14,390.
**Availability: **November.

- Sabre
This pro-street-style cruiser manages to strut an aggressive look and actually backs it up with performance, thanks to a powerful 1312cc V-twin engine incorporating Honda's sophisticated Programmed Fuel Injection. With ergos that straddle the line between function and style, this street rod bike will take you down the meanest streets with performance and looks that kill. The Sabre gets a Black color for 2013.
MSRP: $12,250 - $13,250.
Availability: November.

- Stateline
Featuring long, low lines, the Stateline blends two worlds of motorcycling style: traditional looks and progressive style elements. The deeply valanced fenders speak to a classic retro style, yet the rolling chassis and overall lines bring an updated look to the class. Add a deep V-twin rumble and that classic big Vee power pulse, and you have a quintessential cruising machine. New for 2013 is a black color option. MSRP: $12,150 - $13,150. Availability: November.

- Interstate
High style is all well and good, but sometimes you just want to rack up the miles, too —and that's where the Interstate enters the picture. Those stylish hard leather bags offer convenient storage space and a big, traditional touring windscreen puts up serious protection from the elements; we're talking all-day riding comfort and convenience. It gets a new Light Metallic Silver color for 2013.
MSRP: $13,240 - $14,240.
Availability: November.

- Shadow Aero
A proven favorite, the Shadow Aero checks in as a satisfying ride for a wide range of enthusiasts. The Shadow Aero brings classic retro styling, a low seat height, a power-packed V-twin engine with sophisticated Programmed Fuel Injection and solid handling—all at a price that won't make you cringe. Black and Metallic Silver/Pearl White metallic colors are new for 2013. (ABS in Black only)
MSRP: TBD.
Availability: December.

- Shadow Phantom
The Phantom rolls as back-to-basics motorcycle with a V-twin heart and a refreshingly uncluttered appearance. The minimalist look and blacked out components refocus your eyeballs back to the 745cc V-twin engine, featuring the Programmed Fuel Injection. With its low-key, low-profile approach, the Shadow Phantom shows that bling ain't everything. Matte Black Metallic color returns for 2013. MSRP: TBD. Availability: November.

- Shadow RS
The Shadow RS is proof that some classics never go out of style. By combining responsive handling, V-twin power, crisp lines and a standard-style riding position, the RS becomes a well-balanced medium for whatever kind of ride you're into. The higher footpegs enhance ground clearance, and the modern liquid-cooled 745cc V-twin engine boasts Honda's Programmed Fuel Injection. New Black color for 2013.
**MSRP: **TBD.
**Availability: **December.

- Shadow Spirit 750 C2
What's your poison: city streets or back-country roads? The Shadow Spirit 750 C2 can easily handle either, with its distinctive street-rod styling and a muscular V-twin engine—which includes sophisticated Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI). And we're guessing the price will be right too. New Ultra Blue Metallic Flame color joins Black for 2013. (ABS Black only)
MSRP: TBD.
Availability: December.

- Rebel
For 27 years, the Rebel has remained a favorite among entry-level street riders and riders re-entering motorcycling. With a classic style, good comfort and light weight, it's well-known by riders of all types. New Black color joins Candy Red for 2013.
MSRP: TBD.
**Availability: **January 2013.

- Gold Wing
For nearly three decades the 'Wing has been the pinnacle of two-up two-wheel long-distance luxury travel. Even though that title is being challenged by BMW's K1600, the 'Wing's renowned powerplant, unusually sporty handling and luxury amenities for both rider and passenger continue to impress. For 2013, it carries the latest generation of sophisticated electronics, and also incorporates a built-in MP3/iPod interface and a SRS CS Auto™ technology surround-sound system. With its progressive styling, massive luggage capacity, outstanding weather protection, and top-shelf suspension, the Gold Wing's reputation remains at the top of the list. New Light Silver Metallic and Grey Metallic join Ultra Blue Metallic and Candy Red colors for 2013.
Price: $23,990 - $29,550.
**Availability: **December.
