Between The Lines | 2012 Honda Cruiser Preview

Big News in Bold New Graphics

American Honda chose to enter the new model year a bit more quietly, with no major changes to its menu of releases. But Honda’s V-twin cruisers are well-represented in the 2012 lineup, with eight different models returning. These carryover models boast mainly graphics and ergonomic tweaks to differentiate them from last year’s machines.

The Fury still feels like the rolling incarnation of chopper essence, and it’ll be available in January 2012 with an MSRP of $13,390 (standard model), or $14,390 (ABS). Meanwhile, its pro-street style cousin, the Sabre, goes for the muscular look, but with a classic ride. The $12,250 standard Sabre comes out in January 2012 (the ABS model is priced at $13,250).

With the Stateline, you get progressive overall lines. The freshest VT will be available in January 2012 at $12,150 for the standard model, or $13,150 for the ABS version.

The closely related Interstate is all about racking up miles in style, and adds leather bags and a traditional windshield for all-day riding comfort. You can get one in January 2012 for $13,240 (standard model), or $14,240 (ABS).

The Shadow line includes the Phantom, which packs an uncluttered appearance and a reliable V-twin engine. It will be out in December 2011, with an MSRP of $8240. The Shadow RS meanwhile, provides more agile handling and standard-style ergos. For 2012, higher footpegs enhance ground clearance, and the liquid-cooled 745cc V-twin boasts Programmed Fuel Injection.

The Shadow Spirit 750 C2 boasts distinctive street-rod styling and a muscular V-twin engine. Like the other Shadows, it’ll be out in December 2011, for $8240 (in Black), or $8540 (Candy Orange Flame). The Shadow Aero will retail for $8240 (Candy Dark Red, standard model), $8540 (Pearl Black/Silver, standard model), or $9240 (ABS)
