How To Ride... Bitches

Your complete guide to female-on-female motorcycling

When these Aussies came out with their first video: How To Ride Bitch, we thought it was absolutely hilarious. Done in the style of seventies instructional videos, the two retro-hipster dudes gave you a run-down on the basics of riding on the back of your buddy's motorcycle. We've all had to do it, you feel awkward, you ride a short distance while trying to mess with your buddy who's driving so you don't feel like quite so much of a dork. But with motorcycling being such a male dominated field and women being so sexualized in motorcycle ads, events and culture, this second video just doesn't take it far enough from reality to get the joke.

Focusing solely on appearances and gaining the attention of male riders, this obviously joking instructional can still be a step backwards for women motorcyclists. The male video was making light of a funny situation that we often find ourselves in and the awkwardness that most men feel going nuts-to-butts with another guy. When two women ride on the same motorcycle, nobody really cares. It's not weird or awkward, so there's nothing to make fun of. If the women's video focused on a problem or situation more real and relevant to women riders, I'm sure we would love it just the same.

How about guys constantly asking if that's your boyfriend's bike? Or who's going to pick you up when you break down? or other demeaning sexist things guys say when they see a woman who actually knows what she's doing on two wheels.

The women we ride with would do a burnout on your front lawn if you tried tellin' them to tuck their panties before a ride.
