The new BMW G310R inherits much of the brains and some of the brawn that went into the S1000R, The tilt of the cylinder to the rear and the cylinder head that has been rotated 180 degrees lowers the center of gravity and shifts it in the direction of the front wheel. Because of this, the G310R is not only a light machine, it's more agile and easier to control.

The BMW G310R is powered by a water-cooled 313cc single-cylinder four-stroke DOHC engine with 34 hp at 9,500 rpm and 21 lb-ft of torque at 7,500 rpm. The nearly 3.0-gallon tank will give you an estimated 71 mpg.

Additional features include electronic fuel injection, a constant-mesh 6-speed gearbox with a mechanically-operated multiple-disc clutch in oil bath driven by an endless O-ring chain with shock damping in rear wheel hub, tubular steel bridge-type frame, upside-down 41mm telescopic fork and solid die-cast aluminum swingarm with hinged monoshock and adjustable preload on the rear, 17-in cast aluminum wheels, ABS, 30.9-in seat height, and 349-lb wet weight.

The BMW G310R is priced at $4,750, and comes in Pearl White Metallic, Cosmic Black or Strato Blue Metallic.

Thoughts from the Staff

“Threading twisties in the Santa Monica Mountains at a spirited pace aboard the lithe 349-pound thumper revealed abundant cornering clearance and decent grip from its Michelin Pilot Street radials. Steering is neutral and telepathically light in effort.” Don Canet - Editor, Cycle World Magazine
