Motorcycle riding pants used to suck pretty bad in terms of style. But in the past few years with selvedge denim this, and Kevlar-lined that, it seems as though a shit-ton of manufacturers are paying attention to keeping your epidermis intact, which is a very good thing. Have you ever had the road debris scrubbed out of your pelvis with a wire brush? Total boner killer.

Speed and Strength’s Soul Shaker riding pants are your standard issue work pants but like Dickies (on steroids, or HGH, or whatever the current bodybuilding drug of choice is these days). I definitely dig the simplicity of the Soul Shakers. So many times a good riding pant gets mucked up with ridiculous stitching in the middle of the thigh or something that serves no Godly purpose whatsoever. Not the case with the Soul Shakers. Available in either grey or black, two colors we can definitely get behind.

Basically, the Speed and Strength Soul Shaker is an armored motorcycle pant that’s constructed from 11-ounce cotton canvas with Dupont Kevlar fiber thread reinforcements in the knee and seat. The pants come fully equipped with removable vault CE approved knee armor, which I recommend taking out when casually lamping (do the kids still use that gem?), otherwise they can be a bit bulky. And becuase of my shorter inseam, the knee pads actually sag a little too low in the pants, almost becoming shin pads.

And yes, the Soul Shakers go for $125 which is very reasonable, especially since I know you have you seen the unspeakable amounts other manufacturers are getting for regular old jeans these days. The whole world went and lost its damn mind!

In other words, you never know when you’re going to slide across the tarmac. But if you do, it’s better to be more equipped with some built-in protection than a pair of crusty 501s.
