It's What's Inside That Counts

Riding long distances is never easy, and anything that can help ease the pain of sitting in basically one position for eight hours is more than welcome. When I first saw Ethika’s line of cooling and vented underwear, I thought that they would be nice and comfortable, but I didn’t expect the level of performance and comfort that I got. Just one level shy of compression shorts and made with either vented fabric, tech cooling Sub-Zero fabric or their standard cotton spandex blend used on The Staple, this is an under layer that helps on many levels.

The tight shorts keep all your business in place, while not being too constrictive. The cut and fabric keep them from riding up on your, making wedgies and a waistband that’s continually creeping up a thing of the past.

The MicroMesh and Flow pairs were my favorites of the products tested. Constructed of an incredibly breathable stretchable mesh, the underwear fit exquisitely and performed incredibly well. I wore them on several full riding days and the difference was really astounding. The combination of fit and air flow made it possible to spend more time on the bike between stops, keeping me comfortable and cool. While every pair tested did make a difference, these two seemed to have the ultimate combination of form and function.

They can be a little pricey, especially if you’re used to paying less than $20 for a five pack of Fruit of the Looms, but after spending some time in them and putting them through the test, these underwear are absolutely worth it. Not to mention they just came out with these insanely cool vintage inspired Travis Pastrana collaborative line.
