Look, we know the Fat Boy just turned 30. And we know it’s one of Harley’s best-known, most popular models (can’t bring ourselves to write the word “iconic” again…just yet.). So we understand the tributes and homages; we just don’t understand why H-D and Tuscany Motor Co. have chosen to salute it with another Bar & Shield-branded four-wheeler. What you’re looking at right here is the new 2020 Harley-Davidson Ford F-250—with styling “inspired by the Fat Boy.”

A slightly different rear bumper than the stock F-250 distinguishes the Harley-Davidson edition; 37-inch tires, flared fenders, and H-D lettering mimic that “other” Fat Boy-inspired truck.

In a growing lineup of Fat Boy-inspired trucks, this Ford comes hot on the heels of the similarly styled Harley-Davidson GMC Sierra released just a month ago, and also manufactured through Tuscany Motor Co. So what’s the official reason?

“The Harley-Davidson F-250 edition fulfills customer requests for additional towing capacity and celebrates their passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles,” said Jeff Burttschell of Tuscany Motor Co. “Working closely with Brad Richards, vice president of styling and design at Harley-Davidson, we created another fantastic truck worthy of the Harley-Davidson name and coincides with the debut of the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy 30th Anniversary motorcycle.”

Hmm. Seems the overall vibe on this Ford truck is “inspired” by the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy, just like the styling on last month’s 2020 H-D GMC Sierra, which means you’ll see many of the same “motorcycle-inspired components” on both trucks. Another similarity—they both get 65 of those components, which include chunky 22-inch milled aluminum wheels, a custom exhaust, and a bunch of Harley-Davidson Bar & Shield badges scattered around the exterior. Another familiar touch is the H-D lettering under the grille and across the tailgate too.

A new reshaped rear bumper differs from the standard F-250’s, and dual exhaust tips with signature orange stripes jut out below. Under the arrangement, Tuscany will provide the Ford F-250 and manufacture the interior and exterior components under Harley’s direction. The 2020 Harley-Davidson F-250 will hit select authorized Ford dealers beginning in April 2020. For more info, see harleytruck.com/F-250 or for more on Tuscany, see tuscanyautomotive.com. Just wondering: does this mean there’s a Harley-branded Dodge Ram -- or, heck --Tesla truck on the horizon?
