If you felt like Harley’s 2020 CVO line was a little light this year well now you can rest easy; The Motor Company has announced the return of the CVO Road Glide model as a mid-year addition to the limited-production premium Custom Vehicle Operations series. And although it’s available in just one monotone finish, it still brings the CVO swagger, with slick styling, top-shelf finishes, up-spec components and now, ride-enhancing technology systems. The CVO Road Glide slots into the line next to the already-announced CVO Tri Glide, the CVO Limited, and the CVO Street Glide models in the 2020 collection.

Still badass, but maybe more benevolent-looking? The hot rod CVO Road Glide comes in one color for 2020, this Sand Dune option, but still ladles on the premium finishes.Harley-Davidson

What’s on the new model? Leading the charge are the exclusive Knockout 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels rolling with a split seven-spoke design for a spare, airy look, with the spokes blending into the rim to add visual diameter. Because of that tall front wheel—the only 21-incher found on an H-D Touring model—the CVO Road Glide’s front suspension is retuned to optimize handling and braking performance.

Just aft of that big hoop sits the fang front spoiler, another exclusive to the CVO Road Glide, and from what we understand, is there only to add a dash of style (Harley says it’s been “…tested not to negatively affect Road Glide model aerodynamics.”)

Milwaukee-Eight 117

Making a return appearance are some of the Road Glide’s greatest hits, including the signature frame-mounted shark-nose fairing, complete with built-in splitstream vents to manage air pressure behind the fairing. Upfront, the nose still holds dual Daymaker LED reflector headlamps to brighten the road, and out back are the sleek yet convenient molded saddlebags with One Touch latches. Also back is the now-familiar Screamin’ Eagle Heavy Breather intake, finished in Gloss Black, jutting out from between the jugs to boost air flow and add a touch of style.

A low-profile two-piece fuel tank console with lighted CVO logo gives you a premium look from the cockpit, and Heated Kahuna Collection hand grips warm your mitts while matching the Kahuna shifter pegs, brake pedal cover, muffler caps and floorboards. Also standard on CVOs is a top-shelf audio and infotainment, and the CVO Glide gets the same treatment, with a Boom! Box GTS system and even a Boom! Audio 30K Bluetooth Helmet Headset included so you can connect to the infotainment and other features wirelessly.

Knockout wheels
New minimal seven-spoke Knockout wheels make the scene this year, with a 21 incher upfront and an 18 incher behind. That fang front spoiler is also exclusive to this model.Harley-Davidson

But the biggest addition to the 2020 CVO Road Glide (compared to the 2019 model) is the RDRS (Reflex Defensive Rider System), standard issue on all 2020 CVOs. The collection of various technology systems are designed to match motorcycle performance to available traction during acceleration, deceleration, and braking, via chassis control, electronic brake control, and powertrain technology.

Yea, that’s a lot of stuff, and you can expect to pay dearly for it; the 2020 CVO Road Glide starts at $40,999.
