Between The Lines | Triumph Rolls Out Bonneville Steve McQueen Edition

Resurrecting Cool

Seems like open season for hard-to-get bikes—Triumph has also jumped in the ring with a limited edition model. This one is based on a late actor’s love of the Brit brand’s machines, so there’s some movie nostalgia at work here.

Triumph and the estate of Hollywood icon Steve McQueen will release a limited edition motorcycle based on the classic Bonneville T100. The Steve McQueen Edition’s design is inspired by the Triumph Trophy TR6 that McQueen rode during the movie, The Great Escape. In military-style Matte Khaki Green livery, a stencil-style Triumph decal on the tank and the actor’s signature on the side covers, only 1100 units will be sold worldwide.

Featuring a solo seat and black luggage rack, the McQueen bike has also been fitted with a skid plate and small black-bodied headlamp. The Triumph Steve McQueen Edition features a host of other blacked-out components, including wheel rims and hubs, handlebars, rear springs, mirrors and front mudguard supports. Each machine is individually numbered with a plaque on the handlebar clamp, and owners will also get a certificate of authenticity.
