If you were hoping for bold, sweeping revisions to Honda's big flagship tourer this year, you're about to get sorely disappointed. The only thing bold on the 2020 Gold Wing will be a new range of color options, which will join a host of other small tweaks Team Red has just announced for all five of its Wing models.

2020 Honda Gold Wing Updates And Changes

The biggest update for the 2020 Gold Wings is the change to the front and rear suspension settings which we’ve heard are meant to improve ride comfort with a passenger aboard (though no specifics were given). We’ve also read that 2020 European models had their fuel-injection system slightly revised and that the DCT versions were updated to be smoother and quieter during shifts, but it’s not clear these tweaks were given to US-bound bikes as well.

The biggest changes to the base model standard Gold Wing are the color—now Matte Black Metallic—and price—now ringing in at $23,800.

Back in the US market, the only other changes to the 2020 Gold Wings are in the "comfort and convenience" category, but hey, comfort is comfort, even if it's refined just a bit. In short, there is improved lighting, better ergonomics for passengers, updates on the nav system, and improved onboard charging capability for your devices. As we said, there are also new color and accent options making the scene to add some more attitude to the normally staid tourer.

Some of the “comfort and convenience” features Honda added to the latest Gold Wings are these reshaped grab handles on the Tour models, for “passengers of all body types.”

Here, then, is the summary of changes for the 2020 Gold Wing, Gold Wing DCT, Gold Wing Tour, Gold Wing Tour DCT, and the top-of-the-line Gold Wing Tour DCT Airbag:

• Fog lights will now come standard on the Tour models, so you’ll get another layer of lighting to help improve visibility in sketchy conditions.

• The Tour models also get reshaped rear-seat grab handles so passengers get a more stable and comfortable place to hang on to. Honda says this improves ergonomics for your partner.

• If you wanted more charging options for your devices, you’ll be happy to hear that all models now get a saddlebag-mounted USB charger (previously standard only on the Airbag model) in addition to the dash-mounted unit already featured previously.

• File this under the “convenience” category, I guess; the button on the center storage pocket is revised to offer improved action.

• Honda says it has made minor software updates to improve the navigation system, but again, it doesn’t offer any more info. We assume it includes updating maps and adding waypoints.

• You can opt for more attitude on your Wing Tour or Tour DCT if you choose the Pearl Glare White color; that configuration comes with a blacked-out engine, frame, and wheels.

• There is also a new black metallic colorway with anodized surfaces for the Gold Wing and Gold Wing DCT trim.

• The top-line Gold Wing Tour DCT Airbag comes only in Darkness Black Metallic/Gray.

• All bikes will be available in January of 2020.
