Harley Rolls Out 2014 machines

H-D Project Rushmore Unveiled

In what it’s calling “the largest scale new model launch in the company’s 110-year history,” Harley-Davidson rolled out its 2014 model line for dealers on August 19 amid the rolling hills of Golden Colo. The sweeping launch, which encompasses eight new motorcycles, is being called Project RUSHMORE, and introduces technology and design enhancements specifically targeting the touring motorcyclist: Things like more power and braking performance, improved, wind-tunnel tested aerodynamics, revised bodywork and enhanced ergonomics.

The eight new 2014 Harley-Davidson models, including Road King®, Street Glide®, Street Glide® Special, Electra Glide® Ultra Classic®, Ultra Limited, Tri Glide® Ultra, CVO Ultra Limited and CVO Road King® feature enhancements in four customer-defined categories:

Control: The RUSHMORE bikes are said to pass faster, stop quicker and see farther at night. Each model features the new Twin-Cooled™ High Output Twin Cam 103™ or the High Output Twin Cam 103™ powertrain – both with fuel injection, Reflex™ Linked Brakes with ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), and Daymaker™ LED and Dual Halogen lighting.

Infotainment: New color-screen Boom! ™ Box infotainment systems feature the first original-equipment voice recognition and touchscreen for music, GPS navigation and phone, with quality audio, Bluetooth® connectivity, text-to-speech technology, plus support for intercom and CB communications.

Feel: A new Batwing fairing offers splitstream venting, which claims to reduce head buffeting by 20 percent, and wider and deeper seats along with new back and arm rests provide better comfort for passengers.

Style: The Tour-Pak® is larger, and the saddlebags now have convenient One-Touch latches. You’ll also see sleeker fenders, lighter cast aluminum wheels and intuitive hand control switches.

The Aluminum Slotted Disc wheels are powdercoated black and finished with a laser-engraved Harley-Davidson logo and rim stripe.

Box 6.5GT infotainment system, Batwing fairing with splitstream vent, Dual Halogen headlamp, Enforcer cast aluminum wheels and Reflex™ Linked Brakes with ABS.

All five 2014 Harley-Davidson Sportster® models are now available with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System). The Sportster line also features new hand controls and brake components and an optional keyless H-D® Smart Security System with a proximity-based, hands-free security fob.

The 2014 CVO series motorcycles features the new CVO™ Softail® Deluxe model, a premium touring motorcycle with a detachable windscreen and GPS navigation, Daymaker LED lighting, detachable saddlebags and the big Screamin’ Eagle powertrain found in all CVO bikes.
