Indian Motorcycle Reveals Info On All-New 2014 Indian Chief Debut

Pricing For New Flagship Model, To Be Introduced At Sturgis This Summer, Also Announced

Medina, Minn. -- Indian Motorcycle today announced some more details about the completely new 2014 model it'll be unveiling at the Sturgis Rally this summer.

The company is carefully continuing down the path to the big revival of the historic brand. A key component of that revival is the introduction of the 2014 Indian Chief this August - the first model under the brand's new parent company, Polaris. First introduced in 1922, the legendary Indian Chief is historically Indian's most popular selling model and is widely recognized by motorcycling enthusiasts around the world as one of the most iconic motorcycles ever produced. The Indian Chief is the flagship of the brand's 112-year product lineup, and for most, it represents the spirit of Indian Motorcycle.

This first Polaris-produced model will come out of the Spirit Lake plant in Iowa. Indian also revealed that MSRP for the 2014 Indian Chief will start at $18,999. Inventory is expected to be available at Indian Motorcycle dealerships throughout North America later in the year, and Indian says additional Indian dealerships will open across the country this summer to accommodate demand and service needs.

"When Polaris Industries acquired this brand two years ago, our goal from the outset was to leverage our engineering, manufacturing and operational prowess....to design and build a truly exceptional motorcycle...," said Steve Menneto, Vice President of Polaris Motorcycles . "All of us at Indian Motorcycle are very proud to offer the 2014 Indian Chief at a starting price of $18,999. We set out to make the power and heritage of this beautiful new bike available at a price point that is competitive and more accessible to people who are looking for authenticity and choice in American motorcycles."

The new Indian Chief will be revealed at the 73rd annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota, which runs August 3-11, 2013.

Interestingly, the Sturgis Rally (the world's largest motorcycle rally), was started in 1936 by an Indian Motorcycle club, the Jackpine Gypsies. Smart move by Indian Motorcycle to reclaim that heritage and with the historic reveal of the 2014 Chief at the upcoming Rally.
