Indian Motorcycles has used the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally to unveil its 2015 Roadmaster, its top-of-the-line, everything-included transcontinental tourer.
Indian is giving demo rides at Sturgis to those lucky enough to be there. You can see it now, but you won’t be able to buy it until September. Expect to pay about $27K to make it yours.
Indian Motorcycles is going from strength to strength with its new model line-up, and it’s clearly hoping the new Roadmaster will build on that trend.
The company says the new machine provides 38 gallons of weatherproof storage — the trunk is lined with carpeting — locking hard saddlebags; a Horizon Windscreen with power-adjustment (so you have something to play with when you get bored on those long, straight stretches); heated leather seats with separate controls; heated grips with 10 settings; adjustable lower fairings with built-in storage.
There are more standard features like anti-lock brakes; a system that monitors your tire pressure; keyless ignition with remote saddle bag and trunk locking; cruise control and LED lighting. And you get a machine that definitely makes its presence known.
The tourer is powered by Indian’s Thunder Stroke 111 engine, a 49-degree, air-cooled V-twin powerplant connected to a six-speed overdrive transmission.
