Indian Motorcycles used the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally to unveil its 2015 Scout, a new model available later this year and the first motorcycle to carry the Scout name in 70 years.

On hand to help promote the new launch were Indian enthusiast Mark Wahlberg and “Picker” Mark Wolfe.

Indian has priced the new machine at $10,999, about $8,000 less than its larger brother the Chief.

The company has managed to produce a motorcycle that is reminiscent of the original Scout. It is a looker, and if you look at the specs, a goer.

The Scout comes with a liquid-cooled 69-cubic-inch V-twin the company says produces 100 horsepower and 72 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm. The new motor is fed by a closed-loop fuel injection system and a ride-by-wire throttle.

The new Scout comes with a cast aluminum frame and weighs in at 558 lbs. wet, which makes it light for its class, the middleweight class. Seat height is 25.3 inches.

Indian designers apparently spent quite a bit of time on the pair of rear shocks. You will notice that they’re on a pretty shallow angle in order to follow the frame profile.

You can order yours as of now on the company’s web site in Thunder Black, Indian Motorcycle Red, Silver Smoke and Thunder Black Smoke, both matte finishes. The motorcycles won’t arrive at dealers until late 2014
