Battle of the Kings: Rick's XL Cancoon 240

A slick Sportster Forty-Eight from Rick's H-D in Germany

Well the voting has closed but the contest isn't over until the old lady sings. The finalists have all been announced, and you best believe this Sporty Forty-Eight is right up on that list. This wicked, low slung brawler was designed all around that exhaust pipe, which the team at Rick's Harley-Davidson of Baden-Baden, Germany wanted to get all spec'd out to use on future models as well. As you can see, they didn't stop at the pipe...

Aside from the sweeping 2-into-1 pipe, the first thing that's likely to grab your eye is that super fat 240 rear tire. Now anybody that ever told you the Forty-Eight is a great canyon carver is a damn liar, so putting a 240 rear on the thing isn't going to sacrifice any incredible handling ability. Sure it'll made the thing want to stand up and go in a straight line every time you twist the throttle, but with that much more surface area on the road-- you're getting some serious traction when you want to go. A custom rear fender was made to fit the larger rear wheel, and it looks like they went with the stock solo seat.

The low handlebars of the stock Forty-Eight have been replaced with a slightly higher BMX style bar, and the mirrors have been removed. A tiny little headlight cowl was added, mostly for aesthetics, as well as a slough of covers and smaller accessories from Rick's Motorcycles.

The paint was done in a classic sixties/ seventies vibe with tons of flake and some rad, far-out lettering. A hand painted skull holding a piston with vintage style helmet and goggles adorn the top of the tank along with some red and white pin striping and Lowbrow Customs vintage style gas cap.

With so many Roadsters, cafe racers, tackers and scramblers, it's good to see some real cruiser bikes in the contest.
