How to Change Your Motorcycle's Oil and Filter

Thoroughly clean the drain plug seat, install a new gasket on it, and give the threads a light swipe of grease or anti-seize to prevent galling. Tighten the plug to the manufacturer's recommended torque (minus 10% to compensate for the lube). If you're not using a torque wrench, tighten it until it seats and then give it an additional quarter to a half turn. View Related Article
