Ultimate seats. Best sitting. Maybe Mustang in 2nd place, but if your going to spend the money and want to put really long miles, then Ultimate seat is the best.BTW I used to edit a motorcycle mag and test road a crap-load of seats (even had a custom one made for my roadie).http://www.ultimateseats.ca/ I am 6' 3". You're gonna want to add board extenders. They really changed the angle of my leg and made it more comfortable on long runs. The set I got put them forward two inches and angled them about 10 deg. Great setup. Took me all of 20 minutes to install. Hope this helps.

So, do you own Photo Shop (or any art type program) and a picture/printer/scanner? Seriously, save yourself $45 and spend a couple of hours creating your own overlay. Remove the dial plate and run on your scanner. Save the image full size. Now shop out as a separate image of the the lines (recolor if you want) for the Icons and speed indicators. Lay that over ANY cool picture you like. Use brightness adjustment for each layer. Print onto sticker, label or clear stock with sticky back. Mount over your old plate and re-install. Why pay these guys for a one time image when you could change it up whenever you want? To protect it, spray over it with some clear UV poly urethane. If you want, buy some of those "Teflon" cutting boards (the thin disposable ones) and cut out your plate pattern so you can use them as teh base for the stickers. I will be doing the same with my Roadstar speedo.

I have a 86 CB450SC. I guess you could say I'm in the process of restoring it. I have cleaned and installed new gaskets in the carburetors and had the feul tank claened and sealed. Installed new tank fuel filter. New fuel shutoff valve gaskets, new air cleaner and oil filter. Here's my problem. The bike ran great for the first coulple of test rides. Short rides nothing over 30 mph. When i took it on a longer faster ride fuel started coming out of the overflow. It doesn't seem to do it when the bike is warming up. When I give it some throttle it will start to overflow. I first thought the float was sticking, but it didn't make sense that i wasn't doing it all the time. Once I give it some throttle is will start overflowing and not stop until i turn off the bike and close the shutoff valve. I really don't want to take the carbs off if I don't have to. A real PITA. Does anyone have any ideas? Could I have installed some vacuum tubes in wrong places? The float is plastic and not adjustable. If anyone one needs more info I'll do my best to answer. i have recently rebuilt the engine on my Honda CD200 Roadmaster. it is a 200cc parallel twin. i rode it for about 5 kms. its a pretty old machine, i think several ppl rode it before i got my hands on it. The bike was junk when i purchased it. rebuilt the engine, put on a new camchain, bearings, oilseals, changed the cylinders, pistons, rings, valves, everything. The problem that im facing is that although the bike starts, it runs only on one cylinder. the right cylinder is working fine. the left cylinder isnt. the right cylinder blows off hot exhausts from the exhaust pipes, but the left exhaust pipe blows out a cool breeze of air. the plug on the left cylinder is firing because there is stream of spark flowing to the connecting end of the plug when i take off the plug cap and bring the wire close to the connecting tip of the plug. removing the plug cap on the left cylinder does not kill the engine. but removing the plug cap of the right cylinder kills the engine. the bike also knocks while riding. Further problems include the neutral light which always stays on. so i have to ease the clutch off to check if im on neutral. This make is getting rare these days and in a few years itll turn into an antique item. help me out puhleez. P.S the plug on the left cylinder gets fouled. the right one is a nice tan color. thanks

I'd get an estimate from the mechanic (he's gonna have to look inside the cylinder to see how deep the scratch is, and call around to a couple of boneyards. They may have the right motor from an accident bike. Costs nothing to make the calls.

Like every other manufacturer, Honda is sensitive to excessive warranty repair costs. If they aren't losing enough money repairing bikes under warranty, they won't go to the expense of changing the design and manufacturing. regards, Joe

I’m an old fart who is planning to ride from Houston, Texas to the Panama Canal. My idea is to start the trip sometime in the first quarter of 2010 depending on the weather (I’m very much a fair/warm weather rider). I am looking for up to 6 fellow riders (bikes) to make the trip or part of the trip with me. I plan on visiting historical, archeological, and natural beauty sites along the way. I plan on taking as much time as needed to avoid tight schedules and to have a safe, fun and relaxed trip. My current thinking is that I/we would ride 200 to 300 miles each day and then find a clean but low cost motel or hotel to spend the night. For personal safety and security reasons I believe that it is imperative that we be off the road and settled in well before dark. As this trip is very much in the planning stage I am flexible as to route etc. The starting date window is pretty firm. Countries we would visit would be: Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. Metric bike dealers are available throughout. I know there is a Harley dealer in Panama and I would bet that there is one or more in Mexico and Costa Rica. I doubt that there are Harley dealers in Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. I would plan on starting the trip with the bike in excellent mechanical condition ie new tires, chain/belt, fresh tune up and critical spare parts. You would probably want to plan on shipping your bike back to the states from Panama. I speak Spanish, live in David, Panama and have traveled quite a bit in Mexico, and have lived in Guatemala. Ok so, I got a new battery. But my bike is only good for about 7 or 8 starts until the battery is just too weak to start anymore, and then I need to use my trickle charger. I've got pigtails on my battery so I checked the voltage while running. (The bike was at 11.30v after ignition at this point) When I hit the throttle, the voltage would steadily go up, and over 12v, so it IS actively charging and getting power, but when i back off the throttle, it went back to 11.30v, almost on the dot. I admit i don't know a whole lot about bikes, but I'm sure if i knew what to check, what to replace, etc... i could do this myself. Starter? Alternator or Generator? (not even sure what the bike has) Things to check? any ideas, advice, or more questions for information are welcome Thanks guys!

So I recently returned from an off-road trip in Shangri-La, Yunnan, China, near the Tibet border. Wow what an amazing place. It wasn't all off road, there was plenty of highway driving, very reminiscent of the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts during peak fall foliage season. Anyway, I definitely recommend anyone who has an opportunity to bike out there head for it. I'm thinking about getting a cruiser soon for next riding season. Right now I just ride sportbikes and dirtbikes. I have it narrowed down to 3. Vulcan 2000, VTX 1800, or a Honda Fury. I love the looks of the Honda Fury the best, but like the bigger size bikes. Any experience which is best??

I have a 2000 Fatboy, and it appears that there is a little clatter coming from the oil pump. I have good pressure, but fear there might be worse issues with the oil pump. Question....Do the 2000 Soft Tails have a known Oil Pump problem? My thoughts are that the cams are nylon (plastic) and have worn, and therefore I'm not getting proper oiling. Any insight would be appreciated.

Replacing the fork seals on an 86 Honda Magna VF700C When I used the slide hammer technique to seperate the tube from the slider, the Rebound Spring and the flanged Sleeve popped out of the slider. I have no clue as to what the orientation or order of these should be. Should the Sleeve be orientated A or B (as pictured) and should it go on the tube or slider side of the retainer ring? Also, where exactly does the rebound spring go in relation to the flanged sleeve? I know I am not reassembling this side correctly because, with the fork tube fully extended, I am getting Figure B when I go to put the air cap on. When I originally took the air cap off, the spacer was protruding above the end of the tube as in figure A. The left side fork is good to go and ready to be filled with fork oil. Since there is an anti-dive at the bottom of the left fork, the design is different. The drawing in the Hayne's manual don't show the retainer clip or the flanged sleeve. Help? Thanks in advance. Suzuki 800 intruder is l/c, as is Kawi 800 and the newer 900.Intruder 1400 looks almost like the 800, but it's actually an air/oil cooled engine. If you want a larger bike, Kawi 1500 would fit the bill. If you want to make your character a little retro, put him on a Kawi Drifter (most of the looks of an old Indian, just with modern mechanicals). A number of them have been dressed to look like old Indians, pull up images on the web. They were built 1999 thru about 2007, and are available for 2 grand or so (800, 1500 is a couple grand more, old base kawi 1500 somewhat less). If you pick the 1500, remember, the Drifter went fuel injection in about 2001 (not sure the exact year, but they were the 1st FI kawi 1500). Everything else followed the next year. Years ago, Issac Asimov (science/science fiction/ religion / Shakespeare) observed that the 1st principle is the suspension of disbelief. If you give them something that is falsifiable in their mind, they will not believe the rest of the story, no matter how well crafted it is.
