On February 7, 2012, the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology will vote on H.R. 3199, introduced by Representative Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) on October 14, 2011. MILWAUKEE, Jan. 24, 2012 -- Harley-Davidson, Inc. (NYSE: HOG) reported a strong finish to 2011, with improved fourth-quarter performance capping a year of earnings and dealer retail sales growth. Income from continuing operations was $54.6 million in the fourth quarter of 2011, compared to a loss of $42.1 million from continuing operations in the year-ago quarter. For the full year 2011, income from continuing operations more than doubled to $548.1 million compared to income of $259.7 million in 2010.

New York, Jan. 20, 2012 - Detroit might have been a better venue for Victory to reveal its new muscle-car-flavored Judge cruiser, but we can see why the New York International Motorcycle Show was chosen as the spot to unveil Victory's first 2013 model. For one, the Big Apple is known for its hard edge, sharp patter and no-BS sensibility. And that seems to be what Victory wants us to think the new Judge is all about. The Twin Cam 96^™, Twin Cam 103^™ and 2003-06 CVO^™ Twin Cam 103 have recently been added to the "Reman" program that restores Harley-Davidson engines to factory specifications. All 1999-06 Twin Cam Engines will be upgraded with Screamin' Eagle^® Hydraulic Cam Chain Tensioner and Oil Pump Kit (except '06 Dyna models). Remanufacturing also is now available for all 1999-later engines with a Screamin' Eagle Street Legal Big Bore Stage I EFI Kit. The fifth annual Harley-Davidson Muscular Dystrophy Association Women’s Ride will be in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Tuesday, March 13. Since its inception, the annual ride has raised awareness and more than $179,000 to support MDA Summer Camps and MDA programs around the country.

WASHINGTON - Following Monday's Board meeting on the 2010 multi-vehicle highway accident in Gray Summit, Missouri, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) called for the first-ever nationwide ban on driver use of personal electronic devices (PEDs) while operating a motor vehicle. The safety recommendation specifically calls for the 50 states and the District of Columbia to ban the nonemergency use of portable electronic devices (other than those designed to support the driving task) for all drivers. The safety recommendation also urges implementation of targeted communication campaigns to inform motorists of the new law and heightened enforcement. "According to NHTSA, more than 3,000 people lost their lives last year in distraction-related accidents", said Chairman Deborah A.P. Hersman. "It is time for all of us to stand up for safety by turning off electronic devices when driving." "No call, no text, no update, is worth a human life." On August 5, 2010, on a section of Interstate 44 in Missouri, a pickup truck ran into the back of a truck-tractor that had slowed. The pickup truck, in turn, was struck from behind by a school bus. That school bus was then hit by a second school bus. Two people died and 38 others were injured.
