The expression "You can't keep a good man down" has never been more appropriate than as applied to Mike Simonson. In 1998, then 26-year-old Mike was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Mike's situation turned critical, but a miracle drug came on the scene and saved his life. Three years later he was cancer-free. Usually, surviving cancer would be the happy ending to the story. Unfortunately, because of steroids used during chemotherapy, Mike needed a double hip replacement. And that wasn't the worst of it: Two years after beating cancer Mike developed radiation myelitis, a side effect from his treatments that caused incomplete lower-body paralysis. More brands than ever offer demo rides at Femmoto

Femmoto is proud to host eleven motorcycle brands for demos at the October 3-5th Femmoto event at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The largest and most varied field of demo bikes are split into two fleets - some on the street and some on the track. Track demos are reserved for female participants only, with pre-registration slots filling up for the closed course demos. Entry fees for each day of track demos are $135 per day. Appropriate track gear is required for closed-course demos.

Street demos are open to anyone with a valid motorcycle license and protective gear including a helmet, long pants, and shoes providing ankle coverage. Some brands require more safety gear to be worn on demo rides. Street Demo wristbands are available at for $25 while supplies last.

"Diversity is what's we've been aiming for and I think this year have really hit our mark," says Bonnie Strawser, Femmoto Founder. "As there are many types of female riders out there, there are many types of motorcycles they might be interested in. Having some many brands and so many bike types will make this a really fun event for all our attendees!"

This past weekend at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, TX, Kawasaki held their 2008 dealer show. The biggest announcement was a complete line of Vulcan 1700cc cruisers, topped by a new Vulcan 1700 Voyager touring bike, were on their way.

We spied some real horsepower on display at Indy, too, in the form of Sabertooth's new WildCat. Initially dismissed as a wannabe to the monster motorcycle segment, Sabertooth has upped the ante in that class with this performance-oriented bad boy.

We look forward to it every year, but sometimes we're disappointed. The Indianapolis Dealer Show may be the industry's annual showcase for all the latest trick hardware, but this time around the offerings felt underwhelming. Luckily a couple of bikes saved the day for us.
