The most obvious clue that you're looking at a Night Rod is the little headlight fairing.

The instruments are configured in the V-Rod style, with a small tachometer (left) and fuel gauge (right) flanking the speedometer.

Pumped up with a more efficient exhaust system that adds a few horsepower on top of the V-Rod's (and looks better, too), the blacked-out Night Rod V-twin engine has polished fins. Ours had optional chrome.

The dual shocks are adjustable for spring preload only. Note the position of the passenger footpegs about halfway up and just in front of the shocks. The passenger seat is almost as puny as the V-Rod's, but at least it doesn't slope down the rear like that one does.

Slotted disc wheels fall between the Street Rod's cast spoke wheel and the V-Rod's disc wheels, but are the same sizes. For 2006, all Harley's Rods get Brembo brakes.

It may be a melding of two existing Harley models, with a rear fender from the V-Rod and the Street Rod's exhaust system, but the Night Rod brings plenty of new components of its own.
