Having traversed the AK Hwy both ways in July (1-11th, 8000K miles), I can support most of the comments and advice in this article.  One important update for 2011 though.  Motor homes were few, BUT, the energy industry growth keeps the hotels full and at list price! Important to know when you can't really opt for driving through the night because roaming critters and lack of open gas stations.  A 2001 ElectraGlide likes to drink often. Otherwise, enjoy the trip.  It's a motorcyclist's dream ride.  Folks along the way are especially nice and often curious. And by the time you get home, you'll be an expert on gravel, mud, dirt, and other curious concoctions.  Hope to do it again one day, but not on a full dresser again.
