Oscar by Alpinestars Enduro Jacket: Review

A Killer Waxed Cotton Jacket Steeped in Tradition

The Enduro Jacket is a bit warm for hot days, but perfect for brisk rides.Monti Smith

Alpinestars definitely has roots steeped in motorcycling. From the early '60s when it developed its line of iconic motocross boots, the brand continued to shine for more than 50 years. And with the recent reintroduction of the Oscars by Alpinestars lineup made famous by so many greats of the sport, Alpinestars paid attention to those roots and it's clear they know where they came from.

You’ll find timeless styling and attention to detail in the Oscars by Alpinestars full lineup of motorcycle riding gear for both men and women. I recently received the Oscar Enduro Jacket for testing ($459.95, available in the US around August) and I have to say it’s one of the coolest jackets I’ve had the pleasure of wearing to date.

The classic, belted Oscar by Alpinestars Enduro Jacket fuses heritage style with modern materials. You’ll notice the simplistic and classic detailing; such as the tilted map pocket and custom Oscar snap buttons (with iconic spiral logo made famous in the ‘70s) that make the Enduro Jacket a standout product in the overall Oscar lineup. Made from a Heavy waxed cotton main shell that’s water-repellent and durable with triple-stitched seams, the Enduro Jacket also features a waterproof membrane incorporated between the outer shell and flannel liner for even more weather resistance. A detachable quilted thermal liner is included, too, which means it can be worn in various conditions; however, I sweat a lot and when wearing it on a warm day (with the liner removed) it definitely did not breathe very well. Sweat + non-breathable materials = swampy pits and bits. This Enduro jacket is the one I pull when it’s going to be cold outside. The liner works well, the jacket keeps the elements out, and I stay nice and toasty. As for protection, the Enduro comes equipped with removable CE certified shoulder and elbow protectors, with a back pad compartment with PE padding to incorporate the Alpinestars Nucleon back protector available as accessory upgrade if you wish. I definitely dig the external cargo-style pockets with tilted map pocket, plus internal document pocket. A storm-fly front and high collar plus a corduroy collar lining and cuffs for additional levels of comfort. Traditional style belted waist ensure perfect and personalize fitting of jacket. Oscar by Alpinestars collar and sleeve cuff snaps adjustments. Overall, the Enduro is a high-quality riding jacket that will keep you protected and looking on fleek (did I just say that?). I likey.
