Accessory paint treatment and details brighten the Rocket III, Triumph's maximum motorcycle
Triumph's forthcoming 2294cc Rocket III will be $15,990. This is significantly cheaper than expected, since Triumph had simply announced that the U.S. price would be "under $20,000." The mammoth three-cylinder motorcycle is due out in Spring of 2004 and is currently on the U.S. show circuit.
The photo accompanying the release shows a bike finished with some of Triumph's accessory pieces for the bike, including a new tribal paint scheme in fresh colors, a painted radiator shroud, and a small fairing over the instrument area. It is unclear whether the knee pads on the fuel tank and details like badge-free side panels are production changes or custom changes.

Triumph Motorcycles (America) Ltd. announced today to the company's dealer network that Triumph's new power cruiser - the Rocket III - the first production motorcycle to break the 2-liter barrier, is being launched in the United States with the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $15,990.

Its fuel-injected, longitudinally-mounted, in-line three-cylinder engine has a cubic capacity of 2,294cc - 140 cubic inches - and uses the same size pistons as a Dodge Viper TM. The Rocket III produces almost twice the peak torque than two of almost any other production motorcycles combined - an impressive 147ft.lb torque at 2,500 rpm with 90% delivered at a mere 1,800 rpm.
