You might think that you'd pick a cruiser because it's cute but the Mini Harlee might hook you.
Paint is more exotic than on other 50s.
Maybe a 500-horsepower Dodge V-10 doesn't fit your plans or budget. In that case, the American-made Mini Harlee might be just what you need.
Created by veteran custom-bike builder Johnny Pag and assembled in Corona, California, the Mini Harlee is powered by a 50cc single-cylinder four-stroke and sells for $2399. It has four speeds, a manual clutch, electric and kick starting, a warranty and all the necessary equipment (such as lighting, turn signals, mirrors and a horn) to make it fully street legal. It uses drum-type brakes on both the 17-inch front and 12-inch rear wheels, and carries just under two gallons for fuel in the shapely fuel tank. The 185-pound, 51-inch-wheelbase machine has seating for rider and passenger (with a small passenger backrest), can accommodate a combined weight of up to 350 pounds, and claims a top speed of 45 mph.
As you might expect from a bike created by a custom-bike builder, the Mini Harlees are offered in your choice of a dozen or so different paint schemes, some of which can be seen on the firm's web site at http://www.miniharlee.com. The site also includes a list of the current dealers (over 20) from around the country.
