This Quest waterproof GPS navigator will be adapted for installation in the fairings of Harley-Davidson Road Glide and Electra Glide motorcycles.
According a release by Garmin International, the leading producer of Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) navigation systems, the Olathe, Kansas company has partnered with Harley-Davidson to provide an optional GPS system for Harley motorcycles with full fairings. Based on a special version of the Garmin Quest automotive GPS navigators, the Roadtech Quest for Harleys mounts into Electra Glide and Road Glide fairings, provides audible turn-by-turn directions through the audio system or an earphone (in addition to the display's directions), can be quickly removed for security or to use with another vehicle or on foot, and is completely weatherproof.
The database includes all Harley-Davidson dealers in the coverage area as well as other point-of-interest data, and it can be updated via a USB cable connected to a PC and a data CD. The Roadtech Quest can be fitted to 1998 and later FLHT Electra Glide Standards, FLHTC Electra Glide Classics, FLHTCUI Electra Glide Ultra Classics, and FLTRI Road Glides.
The standard Garmin Quest measures 4.5 inches wide by 2.2 inches tall by .9 inches deep with a 2.2-by-1.5-inch color display and offers the following features:

Roadtech Quest to be Offered on Road Glide, Electra Glide Models
OLATHE, Kan./May 16, 2005/PR Newswire -- Garmin International, Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (Nasdaq: GRMN), today announced that Harley Davidson will begin offering a new Garmin-built GPS navigation system as an option specifically designed for its Road Glide and Electra Glide models.
Named the Roadtech Quest, the system provides premium road navigation capabilities - including automatic route calculation and turn-by-turn voice-prompted directions to addresses or points of interest like lodging, restaurants, and Harley-Davidson dealers and service centers. Riders will enjoy the unit's easy-to-use interface and easy-to-read high-resolution color display.
Best of all, current owners of Harley Davidson 1998 or later FLHT, FLHTC, FLHTCUI, AND FLTRI models can retrofit the Roadtech Quest onto their motorcycle's fairing for a clean and streamlined look.

The unit contains 114MB of internal memory for loading detailed map information in the United States and Canada. The unit is sold with Garmin's MapSource City Select CD-ROM and a PC interface cable, so riders can customize their map data for wherever they're traveling.
Rugged and waterproof, the Roadtech Quest can be removed from the motorcycle's integrated fairing mount and stowed in a pocket for safekeeping. Turn-by-turn audible voice prompts are delivered through the bike's audio system or an included earbud. The unit also has an internal lithium-ion battery for on-foot adventures.
