Shoei has always been at the forefront of helmet design and utilizing their 50 years of helmet-building experience, they are introducing an all-new helmet--the RF-1100. Driven by extensive research, the next generation RF-1100 features a new shell construction, ventilation and visor mounting system.
The RF-1100 features an all-new Snell M2010-approved AIM+ shell complete with a shell-integrated spoiler. Having the spoiler built into the shell allows it to maintain a consistent shell thickness and weight all while reducing lift which will make riding at speed with the helmet more comfortable. Shoei offers five shell sizes in the new RF-1100 to ensure a custom fit for heads between the sizes of XXS-XXXL. The cheek pads and center pad of the latest RF helmet are fully removable, washable, and replaceable. The center pad components are three-dimensionally shaped to match the contours of a rider's head and the multi-layer cheek pads are available in six different thicknesses to further customize the fit of the helmet. In addition, there are eyeglass channels in the liner and an integrated neck pad that, when combined with the other aerodynamic features of the helmet, provide an extremely quiet riding experience. Completing the comfort package are a removable breath guard and chin curtain.
During its development, ventilation was another important concern. After wind tunnel testing, Shoei relocated the RF's vents to a higher position than in the past. They claim that negative pressure improves the exhaust ventilation. The new system features three intakes and six exhaust vents in total. The dual-layer EPS Liner allows air to flow freely through tunnels created in the EPS liner.
The RF-1100 comes equipped with Shoei's all-new QRSA (Quick Release Self-Adjusting) base plate system. Its patented spring-loaded technology eliminates the need to adjust base plates for proper sealing. Every time the shield is lowered, QRSA ensures a wind and waterproof seal. The shield has also been reshaped and is both wider and taller than its predecessor, blocking 99% of the sun's damaging UVA and UVB rays as well.
