At its annual U.S. Dealer Conference, the firm announced the continued expansion of its product line, which for 2010 will include two new riffs on the Thunderbird model. The first is the 2010 Thunderbird 1700, essentially a 'big bore' 1700cc (104 cubic inch) engine upgrade which was previously available only as an option to the stocker. Triumph says the 100cc bump in displacement will push peak power to 99bhp, compared with the 85hp of the stock T-Bird. The new 'Bird will also offer ABS as standard and come adorned in eye-catching s Phantom Red Haze paint that's exclusive to this model. MSRP is listed at $14,799.
Long-haulers will be happy with the second Thunderbird variation: a 1600cc (98 cubic inch)
Thunderbird SE, which will come standard with leather saddlebags, a wide touring seat, a quick detach touring windshield and ABS. A quick detach passenger back rest with luggage rack, and rider and passenger floor boards round out the touring amenities, with the whole package being coated in a flashy new Carnival Red hue. MSRP will be $14,999, just $2500 over the stock 2010 T-Bird.
Hinckley says we can expect the new Thunderbirds to appear on these shores around May (just after they hit the British market).
In addition to the big 'Birds, Triumph is rolling out a number of other special edition (SE) models in 2010 (offered in limited numbers).
The
Bonneville 60 is a commemorative edition of the 1960 Bonneville, that features special two-tone paint, a numbered handlebar plaque and a certificate of authenticity: North America only gets 100 units. MSRP is $8,999.
