In baseball there's the World Series, but in custom bike building there's the AMD World Championship, an event contested by a global collection of bike builders (rather than just Yanks). In the 2007 event held August 5th-8th at Sturgis, South Dakota, 10 different nationalities were included.
Top honors were given to Stellan Egeland, of Sweden, for Hulster - a speedway inspired board tracker, featuring handmade cylinders and heads on a Knucklehead bottom end. Returning World Champion Chicara Nagata of Japan took second place with Chicara Art Two, a bike shaped around a Flathead motor.
Keiji Kawakita, of Tokyo lifted the third place trophy for his Red Gladiator, a machine with the elements of a bobber and European Streetfighter styling. Dave Cook flew the US flag for fourth place with his softail bike with perimeter brakes. Hungarian Sapka Muvek claimed fifth place with Time Machine, and sixth place was nailed by Englishman Paul Stewart's stainless steel framed Epic. The top ten was rounded out by two time World Champion Roger Goldammer. His Nortorious tweaks the British cafe racer concept, with a super charger in place of the rear cylinder.
