Harley's newest model, the 2013 Softail Breakout, has been in the last two issues of our magazine (a First ride in the July 2013 issue, as well as an appearance in the Factory Chopper comparison in the upcoming September 2013 issue), but there are a couple of things we haven't mentioned much of -- just how many accessories are already available for it. Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Accessories released a number of new items months ago designed specifically for the Breakout as well as the 2013 CVO™ Breakout version, and Corbin has also stepped up with some offerings.
The Sundowner Solo Seat ($199.95) offers a deep-bucket design, a wide profile and plenty of padding for long-distance comfort. It's styled like the Original Equipment Breakout seat with a textured vinyl inlay and Harley-Davidson medallion insert. If you prefer to ride two-up, you can add the matching detachable Sundowner Passenger Pillion ($179.95) to the solo seat.
And Corbin now offers a Dual Touring Saddle (starting at $593) for the Breakout as well; it's available with optional rider and passenger backrests ($229) for even more comfort.
The Breakout Reduced Reach Solo Seat ($199.95) is aimed at riders with a shorter inseam, positioning then closer to the ground and to the hand and foot controls. The seat's tapered nose brings the rider's legs together for an easier reach to the ground. This seat is styled like the Original Equipment Breakout seat with a textured vinyl inlay and Harley-Davidson medallion insert.
Tweak the rider's triangle even more with a Breakout Reduced Reach Handlebar ($279.95), shaped to provide the ideal balance of pull back and width to place the rider closer to the controls in an upright position. When combined with the Original Equipment Breakout curved risers, the Reduced Reach Handlebar provides an overall pull back of 7 inches.
Want some storage room? The Breakout Detachable Leather Saddlebags ( $829.95) give you 2,100 cubic inches of handy capacity and detach with the pull of an internal handle, leaving behind two inconspicuous docking points. Leather straps with magnetic tips hide quick-disconnect closures for packing convenience. (separate purchase of an appropriate Docking Hardware Kit is required).
Corbin also offers its patented Glove Box; the ABS item attaches to the back of its backrests, adding 4 liters of locking storage to your ride (from $299).
Get more bling on your Breakout with Turbine Wheels. Original Equipment items on the 2013 CVO™ Breakout model, the cast-aluminum Turbine Custom Wheels ($799.95 each) feature 21 spokes which extend to the edge of the rim, creating the illusion of a larger wheel diameter. These wheels are polished and chrome plated for max reflective effect. (Separate wheel installation kit required).
