We all know you can never have enough room for all your stuff when touring via motorcycle. Luckily we have instant solutions to remedy that situation, thanks to the wide variety of travel bags that have popped up in aftermarket accessory catalogs over the last few years.
Got a lot of crap? Well, now you can take it with you.
One of the nicer pieces we've come across recently is Harley-Davidson's Rolling Touring Bag, a large case that's sure to accommodate even the most hard-core of pack rats. Part of Harley's Premium Luggage Collection (comprised of seven different bags that can be mixed, matched or used individually), this roller bag holds a whopping 3100 cubic inches - - enough room for most solo riders, and maybe even some couples.
With an exterior of super-strong UV and water-resistant 1680 denier Ballistic nylon, the Bag design sports one large main compartment and three easy-to-open exterior pockets (two side pockets and one in front) you can stuff at will. You can gain access with the contoured zipper pulls that allow you to access the compartments even with gloves on.
We tossed a riding jacket, full face helmet, socks, some gloves and a water bottle in the main cargo hold, and still had lots of space for other gear and clothing. The bag mounts easily and securely over your bike's existing sissybar backrest with the Secure Spandex Mounting system, essentially a big stretchy strap. There are no messy belts and buckles to poke passengers, but there are multiple D-rings arrayed around the bag corners should you need other mounting points for additional external bags, tents, pads or what have you.
The most visible surfaces feature 3M Scotchlight Reflective Trim for conspicuity and safety at night, and there's even ah integrated ripstop nylon rain cover included (also with reflective trim!) to keep all your junk bone-dry in those nasty downpours. When you're ready to hop off the bike, just pull the strong locking two-stop extension handle out of the top, set the bag down and roll away to your crash pad for the evening on smooth sealed ball-bearing wheels. Pretty dang slick.
