2015 Indian Scout Recall

Roughly 806 2015 Indian Scouts are being recalled for possible rear brake issues. The NHTSA recall notice states that “In some vehicles, the piston retaining ring located in the rear master cylinder may not fully seat into the machined groove in the master cylinder bore. If this were to occur the vehicle may experience an inability to generate fluid pressure to the rear brake caliper. Lack of fluid pressure to the rear caliper could cause the vehicle operator to lose braking control of the rear wheel which could increase the risk of a vehicle crash.”

Out of the 806 2015 Indian Scouts affected by the recall, only 4% are deemed defective.

Indian Motorcycle dealers will replace the rear brake master cylinder on affected units free of charge. Any owners who might have already had work done on their rear brake master cylinders could also be eligible for reimbursement. Scout owners may contact the Indian Motorcycle Consumer Service Department at 1-877-204-3697, recall # I-15-01 A/B.
